True Paladins

- True Paladins -

There are many different knights in the Paladins Guild, and they are all unique and as individual as anyone else in the realm. There are certain similarities between them all, however, that drew them to be a paladin in the first place. These similarities are not obvious things, like fighting skill, knowledge, or experience in the realm, but traits that run much deeper.

The principles of the Paladins Guild are the most obvious similarity among its members. After all, you cannot make it far in the guild if you do not show honour, courage and loyalty. The principles are not the only thing that make true paladins, though. An Infernal can have as much courage or honour, and a Consanguine can show as much loyalty. I have met several who do. But there is one thing the Infernals and Consanguine don't have that all paladins do: the desire to do good.

In one way or another, every true paladin desires to do good, to bring light and truth to the Realm and all those in it. Some show this in their efforts to rid the realm of all they see as dark or untrue, even if that means taking on an entire guild or class. Other paladins strive to bring light to the realm through more diplomatic means, or by converting others to their cause. And some try to better themselves so as to set an example as to what can be done with the powers of light.

Whatever the path, the intent of a true paladin is always the same - to bring light to the realm, to stop the treachery and deceit.

Of course, paladins do not have a monopoly on this desire to do good and bring light into the realm. It is their efforts to pursue this path with honour, courage and loyalty that makes them true paladins in the end.
