Of a Paladin
By Ryzant

All Paladins must follow the three basic principles of the guild of the Paladins.  They are honour, loyalty, and courage.  All Paladins must follow and practice these principles in order to be a worthy Paladin.

A Paladin must do all things with honour, in action and in words.  A Paladin fights with honour.  A Paladin should not engage in a fight without speaking to or giving a warning to the person.  A Paladin should always consider what is right before engaging in a fight.  There should be no such thing as preemptive strike for a Paladin.  A Paladin must also act with honour when out of the battlefield.  A Paladin should never show disrespect to any individual.  A Paladin must remember that he or she always represents the guild in everything he or she does.  All Paladins should do all things great and small, in actions and in word, with Honor.  In that way, a Paladin should never unjustly attack a person or create disgrace to the Paladins.

A Paladin must also know his loyalties.  A Paladin’s loyalty should first be to a Divine, then to the guild.  All Paladins must be able to trust each other in and out of the battlefield.  A Paladin should be willing to sacrifice their lives for one another without hesitation.  In that way, a Paladin must put his or herself last in his or her long list of loyalties.

A Paladin must also follow the path of courage.  Courage does not always mean to fight heroically in the battlefield.  Courage also means standing up for the guild’s principles, even though death might be the consequence.

Although it is not one of the basic principles of the Paladins guild, I believe a Paladin should also follow the principle of discipline.  A Paladin should have the discipline in following the laws.  A Paladins must also show respect to those who are in authority because even showing respect takes discipline, especially to those who you may not like.

I think a Paladin who shall follow all these principles should not have a problem in being part of and representing the guild of the Paladins.
